Multi-Mode Tape Machine
Six Tape Emulations - VST3
fTape is a multi-mode mono/stereo tape machine emulation. It models the sound and behaviour of analogue tape recording - the saturation, the frequency response, the noise, the wow and flutter, the physical transport mechanisms - across six distinct modes spanning the full history of magnetic recording.
Build 1.0 includes Home Deck (lo-fi 1970s consumer reel-to-reel), Cassette (compact cassette with three tape formulations and Dolby NR), Multitrack (8-track with dbx noise reduction and crosstalk), Broadcast (professional broadcast reel-to-reel), Studio 2" (professional 2-inch multitrack), and Heritage (vintage mastering deck).
Each mode has its own animated visual - spinning reels, moving tape heads, cassette mechanisms - and its own set of controls matching the real hardware. Every instance generates a unique serial number that seeds subtle hardware tolerances across the tape path. No two instances sound exactly alike.
Home Deck, Cassette, Multitrack, Broadcast, Studio 2", and Heritage - each with its own DSP engine and animated transport visual.
Speed, Rec Level, Bias, HF Trim, Noise, Wow/Flutter, Age, EQ Curve (NAB/IEC/CCIR), and Mix. Cassette adds Tape Type and Dolby NR.
Eco for tracking, Studio with ADAA antialiasing on record head saturation, Master with ADAA plus oversampling for maximum fidelity.
Each mode features animated reel transport, spinning reels, tape head indicators, and mode-specific visuals that respond to playback.
